I'm surprised...
That the emerald necklace and tiara date from the same period, although I described them as a parure I had assumed the tiara dated from later as the tiara seems much lighter and post war in style, such as the 1920s whereas the necklace and brooches seemed much more Victorian and bulky in style. My favourite is the rubies however, what a beautiful tiara and necklace. What a fabulous collection! It is always takes me surprise when really quite extraordinary jewellery just appears seemingly from nowhere, proof that surprises can still happen.
