According to Hugh Roberts in
The Queen's Diamonds his information about QEQM's Cartier Palm leaf brooch comes from a Cartier record dated 1 September 1938. See Roberts page 228 footnote 2.
The brooch became one of QEQM's favourite items of jewellery worn throughout her life.
I wonder if the first time HM was photographed wearing the jewel in public might have been to a visit she paid on 14 October 1938 to a Dundee workshop for ex-servicemen?
For a while now I have thought that new jewels often appear initially either on overseas visits or at relatively low key events in the UK.
Is that my imagination?
