A short while ago Janet posted about the Dudley emerald necklace, which I had previously never heard about.

The Dudley emerald necklace
A model wearing the Dudley emerald necklace plus the other jewels (including the Hope Diamond) which Harry Winston displayed in 1949.
I now have a list of the jewels which William Ward, first Earl of Dudley designated as heirlooms to be passed down through the family. (He was the great connoisseur of jewels and gemstones).
One of the jewels matches precisely with the emerald necklace displayed by Harry Winston in 1949.
The description is --
"Large emerald and diamond cluster necklace consisting of six emerald and brilliant clusters including snap and twenty-four drops six diamond festoons between and under drops"
So far I cannot find when the necklace was sold.
The only reference I can find to the Dudley emeralds (so far) is the following--
Apart from the reference to the emeralds, this 1903 report is interesting in so far as it confirms that Rachel, Countess of Dudley wore the rubies for the 1902 Coronation.
Although the photo below was published in 1908, it shows the Earl and Countess in their robes for the 1902 Coronation -- so these are the rubies.
