Case in point Lady Pamela Hicks.
The younger daughter, not married to a nobleman or likely to inherit the Mountbatten herself, yet she inherited what was (in my view) at least the grandest of her mother's tiaras, which her late mother wore to successive Coronations and was also the tiara she was most associated with wearing as wife of the Viceroy of India no less.
