We know about Grand Duchess Marie Alexandrovna's fringe tiara (the last appearance was a sale in 1960 by her granddaughter Queen Marie of Yugoslavia) and her Ruby parure (gradually broken up over time) but the rest of her fabulous collection that irked Queen Victoria so much has dissapeared it seems. (Marie of Russia is my all time fave royal and Victoria one of my least ).

However she had many other wonderful pieces of jewellery, including what to me is the most beautiful Sapphire parure ever created. It was inherited by her daughter Victoria Melita, so we can assume it was sold or broken up in the 1920s - Queen Mary should have bought it given it was specifically designed at the order of Tsar Alexander II to have the flower emblems of the United Kingdom, it would have been the perfect Sapphire parure for the British royal collection.
