The Royal Watcher blog says Princess Beatrice loaned the tiara to her daughter Queen Ena "who wore it for a series of portraits." I note that an article you post in 1930 suggests Queen Ena wore it to an event in London, this may be a further example of her borrowing it or the photos of Queen Ena wearing the tiara may date from that occasion. Maybe she did not bring her own jewels to London? I have seen it reported that some royal ladies travelled with imitation jewels.

I also struggle with the idea that between 1931 and 1933 Queen Ena gave the tiara to the Marchioness. Queen Ena went into exile in 1931 with no certainty over her own future. Over the 3 decades that followed, she sold the bulk of her jewellery collection. In the preceding decade and a half she had seen most of her family sent into exile (and some murdered). She would have known the potential jewels had to provide ongoing security and stability in exile. Her husband was quite undependable and she had 5 children of her own. Why would she give a valuable tiara away within months/years of her husband being deposed to her brother/sister-in-law, who lived comfortably in a stable country?
