That necklace is astounding, I'd love to see it worn again. I cant understand why it would be politically sensitive for these jewels to be worn at this time, Britain led by the precincts of being an empire, they were the world power of their day, and as such lots of their actions can be looked upon as horrible but we should not attempt to change history by erasing it, we should in fact be more resilient of keeping the negative things from history from happening or reoccurring again, but to have these precious stones just locked away is just so really silly, if they are not being used they should be interred into some museum or some exhibition gallery or something like that, you know, allow/ use it to help pay for it's upkeep or the the upkeep of the entire royal collection, its no good just being locked away.
Regards,
Dave.

In the documentary Royal family there is a sequence of the queen handling the sapphire tiara and the Timur ruby necklace. At one point she asks her dresser:"I have worn this once, haven't I?" - referring to the ruby necklace.
So,it seems that she has indeed worn it once but sadly there is no photo proof of that...
