always believed the scale of the Greville bequest had to be exaggerated, one of those urban myths about important and impressive jewels locked away in a vault for 70 plus years, then the Queen went and completely blew my mind a few years ago when she wore that stunning and previously unknown emerald necklace.

The idea that a jewel of that calibre could sit in a vault is pretty mindblowing and just makes me more fascinated about the other items left by Mrs Greville.

I do hope that someone like Angela Kelly addresses why the Queen, a creature of habit, suddenly decided to stun us all. I am sure she will write more books in the future and this is a logical issue for her to address given the interest this necklace sparked.

I can't imagine there will be that many grand jewel events in what is left of the current reign but I hope the Duchesses of Cornwall and Cambridge and the Countess of Wessex have opportunity to wear some unknown or lesser known pieces in the years to come.
