I’m not able to post images from my current device, but I have seen a HD photo of Queen Alexandra’s brooch and it had her husband’s E cypher, like this one: http://www.nationaltrustcollections.org.uk/object/1247140

Her sister Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna also wore a very similar shaped brooch with a cypher, but I don’t know what it represents.

I think that OmerH may have definitely solved the mystery for us.

I have just seen this photo on the Royal Collection site. It gives a date range of 1900 to 1910.

But note the arm band worn by Edward VII, indicating a gentleman in mourning.

Queen Alexandra is definitely wearing the same brooch.
