Such an arrangement can be done say three times a year and the proceeds used to keep and maintain the jewels in the family.
I believe they are some aristocratic families who have loaned their family heirlooms to museums and indeed the BRC, and in regards to stately estates' some have intrusted them to the British National Trust in order to keep family legacies.
A few off the top of my head are the Londonderry family whom it has been reported has loaned some of their jewels to the V&A museum, and the royal relatives who only a couple years ago loaned QV's great emerald tiara and necklace along with an all diamond tiara to an exhibition at Kensington Palace via the RC.
Earl Spencer also allows certain of his family jewels to travel to the US and I believe other places for exhibitions.
