How frustratingly deceptive they show in the black and white images though!! As they appear to be of a very dark colour it is no wonder they were thought to contain emeralds - or even sapphires - until this coloured photograph emerged

Now, we "only" need the Duchess of Cornwall to give us a new outing of the complete brooch, pendant and all.

It's not an usual colour to be found in the collection of the British Royal Family. But I am sure that it could combine very well with many of the outfits worn by the Duchess. So I am really hoping that this will be worn more in the future.

The colour image which British Royal Jewels has posted comes from a photo of the various members of the British Royal Family leaving St George's Chapel, Windsor Castle after Christmas services in 1970.
