Beth, I'm curious about your ideas related to Queen Mary's big brooch pinned at her hat on your first photo ;o)
Could it be the brooch given years later to Princess Diana and set into her large pearl choker ?

So far I have not tracked down the brooch worn on Queen Mary's hat,but I have some ideas.
The brooch at HM's throat is, I believe, the Women of Hampshire wedding gift to Queen Mary.
What do others think?
