Re: Duchess of Gloucester's pink stone drop - from Queen Mary??Archived Message
Thanks Dave. I hope that I can find a better quality photo of Queen Mary wearing the brooch with this pendant.
Queen Mary had, as we all know, a number of pink topaz jewels, and by the frequency with which she wore them, it would appear that she appreciated the delicate colour of the gemstones; yet, strangely she did not acquire a necklace, nor as far as I am aware a bracelet. It is possible that she wore the Honeysuckle tiara with a topaz brooch as the Gloucesters have.
Brooch now worn by the Duchess of Gloucester in her tiara
Queen Mary also had pink topaz earrings. I wonder if they too went to the Gloucesters? And if they were transformed into another piece of jewellery or if they have simply not been caught on camera when worn by either Princess Alice or the current Duchess?
