Thanks guys for this most wonderful thread, and I too was entranced by the diamond and pearl choker/ bandeau. Those kind of jewels come across so very timeless and classic like if you wear them now they would not look as if they were made a few centuries ago. Beth thanks for creating this board, although new and now starting out we have covered so much very interesting ground and your foresight on widening the discussion to include not only royal but historic and celeb jewels is a real sensible move. We have to wait on a royal function to see the royal pieces which are getting less and less, that is royal functions, so your direction and thinking is spot on. I'd love for us to do a thread on Elizabeth Taylor and Wallis Simpson and kind of compare who had the most fabulous jewel collection though. I have seen photos of Wallis wearing jewels never really properly seen and since her jewels were auction nothing really has been done or seen of them like how Liz's collection has been so noted. I'd give Wallis the edge though seeing that most British male consorts and PoW's seem to all come with good jewellery taste when presenting their ladies with pieces to boot if you go back to King William IV and his father King George 111 then down to Prince Albert and Prince Phillip. Sadly I think it has however stopped at Prince Charles as Prince William's taste comes across as vaguely understated and non ostentatious. Regards, Dave.
