Always find discussing this topic to be of great sadness and misfortune although this tragedy happened some 100 years ago and is not connected to me in any way. I always find it hard to conjure how an adult could do harm to children in such manner or capacity, but I guess one has to examine all of the factors which led up to the deaths of the czar and his entire family. I also wondered why they could not have just gone to Denmark the home of the czar's mother if they found their cousin in England King Edward was sleeping or fiddled while Rome burned. Their seems to be no closure to this and I suspect will continue to haunt humanity for all time. No wonder QM never sought to purchase jewels so closely linked to this horrific tragedy. QV if still alive may not have been able to prevent this as many may assume as her hands were also tied when asked to intervene in the Schleswig-Holstein Question by her daughter in law Alexandra. As her daughter was consort to the Prussian emperor who had taken territory from Alexandra's homeland Denmark. So one wonder's if her son Edward basically followed his mother's tactics not to become involved. Sorry I become carried away when such topics are interconnected. Regards Dave. Previous Message
