I have not noted the occasion for the photos of Princess Alice with the ears of wheat tiara, but I suspect that both occasions would have been "private" charity dinners or dances. I will check in the newspapers tomorrow and let you know. Here is another photo from one of the same occasions. This photo from Getty is from 1950 at a theatre evening at the Plaza Theatre, presumably also a charity evening.
