Buccleuch diamond necklaces

The Duke/Duchess of Buccleuch have at least 2 major diamond necklaces. One is a riviere with some very large diamonds. I strongly suspect that the necklace can be worn in a long or a short version.
When the Duchess wore the necklace to the Buccleuch Hunt Ball in 1949 Tatler noted that it was outstanding. (even though the photo I have is not!)
The second large necklace which the Duchess used to enhance the neckline of her dress is in my opinion much more interesting. I wish I knew something of its history, maker etc.
Necklace used to ornament neckline.
Although the photos below are poor quality, I think the Duchess was wearing the same necklace in a more conventional form.

I strongly suspect that the Duchess was wearing it below the diamond riviere in photos published after the 1937 Coronation.
What has grabbed my attention about this necklace is that I think it dismantles to form 3 bracelets which the Duchess was photographed wearing.

The necklaces are very impressive, and I agree with you that the larger necklace and the bracelet are the same!
I find it interesting that the Duchess was wearing the necklaces for the Coronation portrait, when it appears she was bare-necked when leaving the Coronation (something I've always found odd, considering the amount of jewels she had), but maybe she slipped them inside her purse for some reason!
I looked at a few of the videos of the coronation to see if I could identify if the Duchess wore necklaces, but the footage is too indistinct for me to see. I also wondered if any of the other Duchesses who were canopy bearers wore necklaces, but it is impossible to see what any of them wore --except for their tiaras. Perhaps some one with keener eyes might be able to see.

I took the detail I used from a photograph published in the Sketch 26 May 1937. I suspect that the photo was taken in the Buccleuchs' London house, but whether the photo was taken on Coronation Day or another is something I don't know.
