most valuable tiara in each royal collection

Hello all. I always misplace my password but today I found it.
So with all the auctions this past June I began thinking. Out of all the current collections who had the most valuable items?
Then I started muddling it all up when I thought of things like the Cullinan or Stuart diamonds.....
So I thought about it per category.
Which is the most valuable:
Diaomond Tiara? Coloured Stone Tiara? Diamond Necklace? Coloured Stone Necklace?
I think there is a huge number of factors involved like full provenance, familiarity, the stones then overall appeal. However I think stone quality is not a huge factor in actual price as hardly anyone would buy to break up to use the stones these days. However most royal tiara's at the time would have had a very high quality stones for the era not for our time. The real pearl factor would be a huge value factor.
For me I'd say the most valuable tiara in QEII tiara collection is the GGBWI as it's most associated with her but outside of people like ourselves the provenance wouldn't be well known. Though these things are becoming more well known through papers like the Daily Mail doing more jewel articles and segments to royal coverage.
I'd then go the Vladimir, though it may pip the post due to it's history and rarity especially if both pearls and emeralds were included. How many Romanov tiara's are still in existence period? Then add in it's very appealing history.
There is also a time factor say the GGBWI came on the market followed 5 years later by the Vladimir I'd then say the Vladimir would then definitely go for more.
Lovers knots because of the POW would beat the QA kokoshnik.
The Brazilian tiara would come last i'd say because it's not well known, doesn't aesthetically have a wide appeal and the aquamarines being a less sort after stone.
In terms of pure stone quality I'd the say the ruby and diamond tiara tops the charts as the it's most recent piece with stones that were better cut.
All in my honest opinion.

(01): Most valuable diamond tiara: The Delhi Dubar because it has settings to fit the Cullinan's 3&4 of 94 and 63.6 carats. They are reported to be of flawless composition and of the highest quality and are also reported to be the most expensive jewels in HM's collection. The close contenders would be the Swedish Braganza and the Luxembourg Empire tiara but it is not clear of the quality of stones they may have. Also the Delhi Dubar can also be fitted to accommodate the Cambridge emeralds making it even more expensive or valuable with this setting.
(02): The most valuable coloured stone tiara: This would have to go to the mighty Vlad with its emerald settings or the ruby and diamond tiara HM had made in the 70's. The dismantled tiara made to create the ruby one was reported to come from the Nizam of Hyderabad and was sourced from Cartier so the stones would of have to been of top quality. But the turquoise tiara loaned to PM by QEQM could also be a surprise contender. And the Swedish Diamond and Sapphire tiara is also in there as well.
(03): The most valuable diamond necklace is the most difficult as one does not know stone composition and grading. But my pics or likely ones are as follows:
(01): The massive Greville Diamond necklace bib.
(02): HM's QE2's triple colliers necklace.
(03): The Dutch diamond bandeau.
(04): The Danish massive diamond necklace the one worn by HMQ Margaret at banquets and personally, I think this one has the sway.
(05): Or the Spanish collier diamond necklace.
(04): The most valuable coloured stone necklace would have to go to HM QE2's Ruby Necklace called the crown rubies. But this could be easily challenged by her mother's Greville Emerald necklace or the ruby necklace with the massive Spinal ruby or even the Kent Amethyst necklace.
I wish I had pictures to post along with all the write up. But thanks Andrew U, this is a good item for debate.
Regards,
Dave.

What about the Dutch Sapphire Tiara and what was mentioned before has to be in the top.... the Spanish Long Collet Diamond necklace. I also remember reading like 20 years back that Queen Victoria of Spain's emerald necklace hod the best stone of any emerald necklace.
you all have made me think about things differently. I totally forgot just how high quality stone were used on QEII ruby tiara.

Yes Andrew U. We shouldn't really be comparing stuff regarding jewellery if we have no clue about the stone quality as everything will be guess work. What we can go on are reports such as the ones spoken of on QE 2's Cullinan brooch and the present day market prices these stones may favour at auction, this is why I contend that in the appropriate setting the Delhi Dubar may very well come out on top in the all diamond stakes. If we only knew the stone quality of the individual diamond collet necklaces we could debate more, because I have also read that the DoCorn had worn a collet necklace at her birthday party which was estimated in excess of some six million pounds because of its quality and the stones being of large size and of old cut form which are very rear to come by. This particular diamond necklace was reported to have been shorten and was the personal property of the late QEQM and had come to her via I think the said Madame Greville. And you know the other expensive tiaras or coronet would have to be QA diamond tiara the one that holds the type 2 a colourless 105.6 carat Koh-i-Noor diamond. This diamond has been described as being priceless and the Indian Government is purportedly trying to recoup this diamond, so something as reported as priceless would make an all diamond tiara the most valuable, the other coronet that comes to mind is the George IV crown. But lets hear some more views.

Dave.

This is another amazing topic and one which I decided to ponder. In preparing my response I have done so with the following limits:-
* item must still be in a royal collection * we should only look at stone weight not royal provenance as this will upset some people. * we should only think of the main setting.
Diamond Tiara:-
Dutch Stuart - size of the stones blows the others for six.
Coloured tiara:-
Emerald - UK Greville or Norwegian. The Danish one is full of inclusions.
Sapphire - UK or Swedish Leuchtenberg.
Ruby - Not a lot out there so Dutch Mellerio.
Amethyst - Sweden by default
Pearl and Diamond - either of UK (vald or Cambridge) or Danish
Diamond Necklace.
Danish with large stones will be up there and I suspect that Queen Victoria's Collet Necklace will be as well and also there is a Dutch necklace with very large stone and lot of them that either belonged to Queen Emma or is part of the Stuart set.
Ruby Necklace - UK crown rubies
Sapphires - UK Sapphires or Swedish
Emeralds - UK Greville or Norwegian
Amethyst - UK
