Countess of Strathmore
Posted by Beth on July 29, 2020, 7:49 am
I am curious as to why it is said that the Countess of Strathmore borrowed a tiara for the 1937 Coronation from her daughter, Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother.
Is it simply based on the fact that other photos of her wearing a tiara are not circulating? Or is there some definite proof?

I was thinking the same thing while reading through that thread. Lets hope we find out some more about that jewel.
The Strathmore Jewels are quite unknown to me, but there is a picture of the Wedding of the 18th Earl of Strathmore, with the bride, Isobel Charlotte Weatherall, wearing this antique diamond tiara. It could be a Strathmore heirloom, but the bride also comes from a prominent family, so it could come from them too.
I was also thinking the same thing while reading through that thread concerning the tiara worn by the Countess of Strathmore.
Best regards,
Francl
