Curzon tiara owned by the Nepalese Royal Family? Posted by Janet on August 12, 2020, 8:17 am In 1898, Boucheron made a tiara for Mary Curzon. The whereabouts of her jewels has been a subject for discussion on these boards before. By chance, I was doing a bit of goggling about the Nepalese royal family and came across a picture of Princess Purnika, the eldest daughter of the former Crown Prince wearing what looks like a very similar tiara to me, although as always the lack of a really good quality picture makes it difficult to be sure. https://xnepali.net/himani-and-paras-insiders-photos-of-bratabandha-at-nirmal-niwas/

It certainly looks as if the two tiaras are the same; nevertheless, I would be interested in seeing a sharper image of the one worn by Princess Purnika, as we have found previously that there can be several similar, but different, versions of other tiaras. What a remarkable memory you have to be able to spot the similarity! Your find really gives us something to think about.

I looked more closely... Posted by Janet on August 12, 2020, 7:10 pm, in reply to "Re: Curzon tiara owned by the Nepalese Royal Family?" and actually Lady Curzon's tiara is slightly different to the original Boucheron tiara and that of the Nepalese princess. See picture below where I have drawn on the key difference. It would be weird that Boucheron made the tiara, sold it to Lady Curzon, she made a slight tweak, her heirs sold it and it ended up in Nepal and then they tweaked it back to its original Boucheron state. Oh yet another mystery.

It is still possible that the Nepalese Princess was wearing the other Boucheron tiara. I agree that it is highly unlikely that one tiara was changed several times.

I think but I'm not positive that both daughters of Crown Prince Paras and Crown Princess Himani have a tiara like this. The only picture I have is not great quality but if the are not the same they are at least similar. Princess Purnika is on the left and Princess Kritika is on the right. The biggest different between the Boucheron tiara and the Nepalese one(s) is that the Boucheron tiara has five points and Princess Purnika's tiara only has three.
