Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie's Sautoir

Hereditary Grand Duchess Stephanie of Luxembourg wore her diamond earrings and a pearl and diamond sautoir for the Baptism of her son yesterday. I wonder if the sautoir is a family heirloom? I can imagine Grand Duchess Charlotte or her sisters wearing the piece sometime in the 1910s and 1920s, though it could also be a Lannoy family heirloom!
I wonder if this is an old piece or a new piece? All the metal work looks as if it is heavily tarnished; yet, I have not got the feeling that the silk thread for the pearls is old, so I suspect that, if the sautoir is an old piece, it has been restrung.
If the pearls were restrung, surely the metal work would have been cleaned. That is why I wonder if this is not a modern piece where the metal has been deliberately oxidised.
What do others think?
Has anyone worked out what stones are in the elements separating the pearls?
Could it be a gift She received when she was in Marroco ?

Hi Beth, I think it is twisted around in places and what we are seeing is the back of the jewelled panels rather than the jewelled fronts. I'd say it is an old piece looking at the pearl and diamond tassel.

Thanks Maria Olivia and MarcA. I think you are correct MarcA. I guess we will have to watch to see if the Grand Duchess is photographed wearing it in the future to see what the gemstone/s might be.
