Some time ago someone asked about the ruby tiara belonging to Grand Duchess Vladimir -- apologies but I forget who asked. I also apologise as I have had this information for a few years, but I got distracted and did not post it as a possible answer to the query. Nor do I now know what the precise query was, except I think it might have been Sam's comment at
https://mb.boardhost.com/historyroyaljewels/msg/1600880950.html According to numerous sources, after the death of Grand Duchess Vladimir, the tiara was purchased by Princess Anastasia of Greece, formerly Mrs Leeds, who purchased it for Princess Xenia who married William Leeds, Princess Anastasia's son.
For some details of the history and a splendid coloured version of an earlier black and white photo see the Instagram account, Russian Treasure, at

The detail of the photo is not good, but I strongly suspect it is the Grand Duchess' ruby tiara, probably secured by the contemporary fashion for diamond encrusted bands over the head.

What do others think? Was Princess Xenia wearing the Vladimir ruby tiara?
I wonder where it is today?
