At various times she was reported to have worn them in her hair and in a form of a tiara. I also think that the photos were all taken before Queen Mary married, so it is highly unlikely that the stars would have an connection to Queen Alexandra. The stars (I think there were 3) were a gift from her grandmother, the Duchess of Cambridge on her Confirmation on 1 August 1885. Pope-Hennessy recorded that Queen Mary wore the largest of them on her white dress when she attended her first Drawing Room in 1886. Another can be seen partially hidden by the Court feathers in her headdress in the photos below.

As far as I know the necklace worn by Queen Mary came from her mother and later went to her daughter, Princess Mary, Countess of Harewood -- but I could be mistaken, especially as I am not sure which jewels you are referring to.
