QEII Wide Art Deco Diamond and Ruby Bracelet Posted by Crowne on January 18, 2022, 8:11 am QEII bracelet described by Leslie Field as a wide Art Deco diamond bracelet formed of eight oblong plaques studded with small rubies. I was wondering what was the earliest known date this bracelet had been worn? As a starting point I have the 1962 Royal Variety Performance (the photo is dated 1st Jan but the performance was 29th Oct 1962).

That is probably explained by the fact that this is one jewel which I actively dislike!! Some hate the Burmese ruby tiara, some the aquamarine tiara -- I dislike this design of this bracelet.

It only occurred to me after I had posted that perhaps it could be a Greville jewel. The Art Deco date and its large size would fit the kind of jewels Mrs Greville had. And I think Beth found a press article reporting that Mrs Greville had several ruby bracelets?

Not very elaborate, quite simple in design but large, bold, regal ! The earliest photo I have of the Queen wearing the bracelet dated from 1964. So, the 1962 photo posted here is the earliest I've seen. The Greville provenance is very interesting and possible but I don't know. Thanks !
