Swedish Sapphire

It looks like Princess Brigitta of Sweden gave her daughter one of the sapphires from her cabochon sapphire necklace. I know the Princess changed the drops on the necklace for 5 to 3.

Scroll down to 4th of 5th photo with the pearl necklace with the sapphire clasp which looks like one of the missing medium sized drops.

here are before and after photos of the necklace.

The pendants from the necklace were transformed into earrings, it was worn by Princess Birgitta several times.

I've read somewhere that the stone you're referring too is the clasp to Princess Sibylla's multistrand pearl necklace that was left to Princess Birgitta.

Yes, I wrote about it in my article on Princess Sibylla’s 5-Strand Pearl Necklace for Princess Birgitta's 85th Birthday a few days ago! The conversion was done at some point in the 1990s.
