Power & Image: Royal & Aristocratic Tiaras at Sotheby's Posted by The Royal Watcher on May 30, 2022, 12:09 am Yesterday, the Beau Monde and I went to Sotheby’s to see 'Power & Image: Royal & Aristocratic Tiaras’, which I've written about, HERE, which offered some great surprises that were not even included in the online catalogue, namely the Westminster Bagration Tiara and the Buccleuch Diamond Belt, both of which we were sadly not allowed to photograph, but the Belt in my opinion was the most spectacular piece! What was most unique in the display was that the tiaras seemed to float in some of the cases, and upon really close inspection, they were held up by almost invisible wires. We did speak to one of the people at Sotheby's about the mistakes in the online catalogue and they did say that they were glad to know, but I have no idea if they will be changed or not.

Is any information provided with the jewels... Posted by Janet on May 30, 2022, 2:15 am, in reply to "Power & Image: Royal & Aristocratic Tiaras at Sotheby's" I appreciate some owners will want to retain confidentiality but is any information provided regarding important features of the pieces on display i.e. who designed the piece, era it was made etc. Not that it could probably be relied upon , still cannot believe a professional company liked Sotheby's could be caught out and be putting on their official website that the Spencer tiara is going to be inherited by Princess Charlotte. I am hoping to catch this exhibit in a few weeks time, was it very crowded? That was the worst part of the V&A exhibition about the Romanovs.

You know, it wasn’t that crowded. I fully expected there to be a queue but we were good. And there was plenty of elbow room when it came to taking pictures
