Queen Camilla at Versailles

I am disappointed that HM did not wear a tiara on a State visit to France, in Versailles of all places.
Of course we know even when socialist President's of France opted for black tie in the past, there was cooperation between the two parties to ensure there was a compromise and the late Queen always presented in a way that meet the British requirement.
A real shame and a forerunner for what will likely happen in the future on state visits.
Not even a headpiece such as a brooch stucked in. France is the home of the oldest and most prominent jewelry houses. If this is what British royalty has come too, why not just have a president. This is so declasse'. I was at least hoping for something not seen before or just maybe the ruby suite.

No Tiara for Queen Camilla tonight, but she is wearing the King George VI Sapphire Necklace with a Dior Gown for the State Dinner at the Palace of Versailles !
It is the host who sets the dress code and tiaras haven't been worn at French Republic hosted state dinners in many years. We are lucky that things have been upgraded to black-tie and formal evening gowns for this banquet which made appropriate Camilla wearing a very regal demi-parure. Search for photos of the 2014 Swedish, 2015 Spanish, and 2016 Dutch state banquets in Paris and see a less formal dress code with men in business suits and the queens in knee length dresses. No tiaras and few very grand jewels. For the Dutch dinner Francois Cluzet wore an open shirt and no tie....That was a very relaxed dress code indeed.
Not true. Queen Elizabeth II. wore one in 2015 so only 8 years ago. And she always wore a tiara for black tie State Dinners as do many other Queens (Máxima, Mathilde, Silvia, Margrethe, Sonja) And Camilla has worn tiaras to black tie events before like the Commonewealth Dinners

Thanks Stefan, once a tiara is worn it clearly distinguishes statuses and roles, what happens when a Queen doesn't wear a tiara to state functions like that is the Queen does not have any real relevance.
A Queen must by a clearly defined person of attention so what she wears is also very important and significant. But to go to the French nation the home of fine jewelry and not dawn a tiara is kind of odd.

"many years" may not have been the best choice of words. Perhaps I should have written that tiaras haven't been worn at State Banquets in France in Recent years. We well remember QEII's last visit to Paris in June 2014. Since that event, I can't recall seeing a queen wearing a tiara at the Élysée Palace. Look at attire worn in France for the Swedish state banquet in December 2014 as well as those for the Spanish, Dutch, and Luxembourg visits in 2015, 2016, and 2018
