I know we are all sick and tired of COVID and hearing about – believe me I am.
COVID is here in town. We have both tested positive. We’ve been here 2 months- so we didn’t bring it.

If you have what you think is the cold or flu that’s going around- it’s a good chance it could be COVID. If you are coughing, have sore throat, fever, headache, nausea, vomiting, are extremely tired and basically feel like s#%& it’s a good possibility it’s COVID. However, everyone is different and most people don’t display all the symptoms.
I was a Case Investigator for the State of New Mexico during the first horrendous year of COVID. I know it can take a serious turn. Think about staying home to protect the elders and high risk folks in the community. Current guidelines are to stay home at least 5 days and that is only if you have been fever -free for at least 24 hours with no fever- reducing medication.
I don’t know how available test kits are but if you are coming from the North you might want to bring test kits and if you have access to the free ones- please bring to share.

And for those who suffer from FOMO, fear of missing out, if you’re sick or even slightly sick please stay home so we can miss out getting sick with you. Gracias

Thanks for posting a reminder for the people that don't think there is covid or other viruses going around. I was told by a few people to stay at a distance because they could be contagious. They said it was because of the (FOMO) people that have come to functions knowing they had covid but no symptoms.

WOW! -I didn't want to think that folks would knowingly spread this crap. I am very ill and to think it is because someone didn't want to miss a few days of activities, just makes me sad. Please if you have COVID or think you might, stay home. Some people told me it's not as bad these days but unfortunately this is the 3rd time I've had it and it is the worst case.

We arrived two weeks ago and went to a dinner party hosted by friends. Two days after the event, the host wrote everyone saying one of the guests tested positive for COVID. My wife and I did as well. The current variant, JN.1, did not surface until September of last year and is not covered by the last version of vaccine.
We isolated for 10 days.
We were fortunate and had relatively mild symptoms, but are in good health and have strong immune systems. This may not be the case for others in our community.
The advice above is critical to the health of our community. Please consider that although you may feel symptoms of a cold, others might need hospitalization.

These posts are making me reconsider attending tonight's fundraiser at Palapa Joe's. I already bought my ticket, which means that I've already contributed to Peluditos but, after managing to avoid Covid since March of 2020, the thought of mingling with a large crowd makes me nervous. The Snowbird Season coincides with my high season for work, so I simply cannot risk getting sick. Have a great time!

Thanks, mm. I ended up giving my ticket to a Mexican woman who couldn't afford it, along with a new mask and a gentle suggestion that she wear it.

I contracted covid last year, just after arriving. My memory told me that it was not very severe; then, I re-read a poem I'd written while sick. I'd described my back as being "a sheet of fire".
How very easy it is to gloss over that which is too painful to recall.
