Fire on the mountain!

Not sure if this fire is controlled or not but protección civil has been informed! This is the mountain beyond Calle Perula

They say it’s under control- but it’s burning pretty hot still at 9:45pm

where were you when this picture was taken. Hopefully north of us, presently I am guessing that the fire is 500 meters above and behind us. We are at the top of Calle Perula.

I took my photo from our house on the beach.
The fire is still burning hot at 10:30pm

We can seriously hear it and are watching trees going up in flames

Beto Verde just told me that all is ok now. I think that means it’s out. Perhaps still smoldering?

Not entirely, I did an inspection (up close and personal) this morning, there is still flames near the road on the way up the mountain, lots of smoke on our side but even more on the back side. If it starts to blow this afternoon, we might have to watch it more closely. It would suggest that it was man made as there is nothing going on up there in the way of construction (that I could see), I tried to drive the quad around to the back but the road got so rough I was not comfortable being there alone. I want to thank all those who took pictures, there were some very impressive shots of danger in the early stages. Having seen what happened last summer in both BC and California, it is very easy to see how something can get totally out of hand very quickly.

Hola. On Manzanilla Life it was reported that Proteccion Civil said that the fire is under control. However, taking Erin's observation about the wind, I contacted a local emergency crew person and he is concerned enough that he will do further investigation on the status of this 'smoldering'.

Hola again. Well, I was thinking, no news is good news. Then I got a cryptic message saying that it was not definitive but that the fire is controlled.

So does that mean we are still in limbo and they will keep watching until it is a definite statement? Well, it is true that fires here are different and they somehow seem to stay controlled. So for now we can rest assured, I guess, lol, Cruz

I don't want to add fuel to the fire but there are several areas that are very approachable from the road where the fire is located. The only control is coming from the direction of the wind. A course correction and we will have a serious problem. The fire has moved considerable to the north on the hill but is still moving.

We can definitely still see lots of glowing orange hotspots Thursday night at 10:30 pm

smoke it thick this am, we can see several small hot spot (c/w flames) but they might be somewhat hard to access. I guess the policy is that it will burn itself out eventually.
