Repairs and upgrades continue on the water supply

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING ADJUSTMENTS MADE IN PLAYA DORADA
The street in Playa Dorada previously had water running almost constantly while the well pump in the rural area was running for up to 18 hours.
With the installation of this new control valve, the water supply will now be adjusted only to the schedules assigned to the central sector, allowing for better water use and helping to improve supply in the higher areas of the rural area and Valle Verde, where many families are currently experiencing low pressure.
In addition to helping better manage water rationing, this valve will also be a great help for future repairs, as it will allow the network to be divided into sectors and prevent the water supply from being suspended in the entire rural and central area due to a single leak or repair, as happened recently on Monday near the church.
Work continues on:
valve installation line sectorization leak reduction improved water distribution
Thank you to everyone for your patience and understanding while these improvements are being made for the benefit of the entire community.
We also take this opportunity to invite all users with outstanding balances to bring their payments up to date, as every repair, valve, material, and improvement to the network represents a significant expense for the drinking water system. Thanks to the support and payments of our users who are current on their payments, we are able to continue carrying out work to improve the service for the benefit of the entire community.

If you haven’t paid your water bill this year (or you don’t know who pays your bill - property manager, prestan hombre), please check with the ejido office and make sure your account is up to date.

It sure is a bonus to have someone like Spencer to take the time to be involved and keep us all informed as to how things are going in the pueblo that we love so much.
Re: Repairs and upgrades continue on the water supply
Yes, it is true. I have not seen it in person but I have seen videos. Tons of people have made videos and posted them on social media, such as LM life.
I’ve been told it has been reported to the Water committee and the Ejido multiple times, but the water is still running. Judging from the mud below and water flowing down Rufino Tamayo (I heard) it must be millions of liters lost.
It would be very hard to quantify, as the water is flowing down on all sides of the structure. I have videos showing this, but I can not manage to attach them here.
Apparently this has been going on for weeks, if not months. It appears that the pump is on 24/7 - maybe missing a floater - there seems to be no mechanism to stop the pump when the structure is full so it overflows. I don’t know, I am not an engineer.
I don’t understand why this is not being repaired/fixed - especially in our dire dry town situation.
Makes me want to flush the yellow - because what’s the point…?
A well that was dug 30 years ago and never put into production is being tested to see if it can be added to the system. Here is the water committee’s post from Facebook:
PROGRESS ON THE REHABILITATION OF THE NEW WELL
We continue working on the rehabilitation and protection of the new well, which remained unused for approximately 30 years following its drilling.
As part of this work, new 8-inch, slotted RD-26 PVC pipes were installed; these are specially designed to protect the well's structure and facilitate proper water filtration during flow-rate and pumping tests.
These efforts aim to mitigate the risk of damage or potential internal collapse as the well resumes operation after so many years of disuse.
To date, preliminary measurements continue to show encouraging results compared to other wells currently in operation, recording considerably lower salinity levels. However, further testing, monitoring, and analysis are still required to accurately assess its performance, recovery rate, and actual production capacity.
We remain committed to working step-by-step in our search for solutions that will help improve water quality and availability for our community.
We also take this opportunity to respectfully request your support regarding the payment of your drinking water service fees. We specifically ask those with outstanding balances to please bring their accounts up to date, as these ongoing works—including repairs, materials, and studies—represent significant expenses for the water system and are fundamental to our ability to continue improving La Manzanilla’s water infrastructure.
Thank you to everyone who continues to support these efforts and stays informed.
