Sorry, IMO you cannot simply say it is about an education. It is certainly about BOTH softball and an education. My daughter has lived the college softball life (higher level mid-major) and it was definitely about both. Softball is a full time job at a DI / DII school, so getting into a good college softball program makes a big difference for a player. Any DI or DII player will spend a ton of time for softball through college. And for the education part, most college coaches are about grades and all over their players to achieve a 3.0 - 3.2 + GPA. There is that peer pressure on many teams to not be that girl with less than a 3.0 GPA. At the end of the day, unless you are in a very specific type of field where a degree from a prestigious university matters, where you went to school to get a BS / BA or Master's degree likely won't matter in the long run after you get experience in your field. A degree is a degree and it opens the doors in most fields. So make the softball experience as good as it can be.
