To add to that…
USA games get them quite a bit of swag, an opening ceremony, a booklet of all the players, invested coaches and a sense of a tournament atmosphere with all games in close proximity and always a game on the “big field”. Well worth the time and expense of traveling to the tryouts and event.
USSSA games, while also at one complex, is very spread out and disjointed, there are random coaches (my DD had an underclassman college athlete), uneven playing time (kid that had never pitched before raised her hand to pitch the “win or go home” game and was selected to pitch) and it’s impossible to even tell who, if anyone, is running the event. Very hard to get the “tournament” feel and definitely didn’t feel as special as all the advertising made it seem like it would. It also really meant nothing on her “resume”. However, it was fun for my DD to do - I just wouldn’t pay to travel to those tryouts or fly to the event had we had to do it over.
