Fall is the prime recruiting time for players looking to play in college. The college coaches want to see players play against high caliber teams which is not always the case with high school ball.

Play HS ball when the college coaches are not available because they are busy with their teams.

I would bet you would see a lot of players forego high school ball for their travel teams if the season was moved to the fall.
