Coach Lynn has been on paid leave from team since December. Administration had several complaints from players and families that weren’t playing about unfair standards and practices. The new administration sided with the players while majority of team backed the coaching staff. The remaining staff. Is in place so this appears to be the compromise.
UiC moved conferences in the last two years have not been very competitive so this move could of been done based on record but to do it now, 48 hours before the season begins is hard to justify.
