The whole P4 vs mid-major thing... After closely watching 5 years of college softball, there is not a lot of talent difference from the mid-to-lower P4 players and the mid-to-higher mid-major players. The #1 or #2 pitchers swing the talent difference on P4s, as do the top 3 or 4 hitters on a P4 team. More and more I saw mid-majors competing with and beating P4 teams, sometimes even with the #1 or #2 P4 pitching. The better mid-major conference teams can definitely play with P4 and beat them any given day. After watching tons of families and player situations, it is obviously better if your daughter has an opportunity to play versus sit the bench. I'd have my daughter chose a decent mid-major and play all the time any day over maybe playing at a P4.
