I'm sitting here in Crown Point watching Queen of the Hill tournament. I'm watching the game on field 8. The batting cages are directly behind centerfield. Why do hear the loud crack of softballs being hit in the cages but nothing but silence or a faint thump when the balls are being hit in the games. It's very noticeable. Only a few balls are being hit hard.
