Are you offended because in a preseason game the probably top talented team played to the best of their abilities? Are you suggesting they should have slacked off deliberately? UTEP didn’t schedule this game to play an opponent who wasn’t going to show up and compete. You don’t improve playing down in strength teams because if that was the case UTEP would have scheduled Slippery Rock State (No offense intended to The Rock) instead of OU. All sports went down hill when they started giving little Suzy a participation trophy for coming in last place. Life doesn’t and shouldn’t reward you participating. Sports teaches that the best team wins and Should Be Rewarded with the Biggest Prize. Because just like life the top talent gets the highest salary and parents that is the lesson to be learned from playing the game. Not hanging your head and crying because they beat you but learning from the loss to be a better player.
