Are you offended because in a preseason game the probably top talented team played to the best of their abilities? Are you suggesting they should have slacked off deliberately? UTEP didn’t schedule this game to play an opponent who wasn’t going to show up and compete. You don’t improve playing down in strength teams because if that was the case UTEP would have scheduled Slippery Rock State (No offense intended to The Rock) instead of OU. All sports went down hill when they started giving little Suzy a participation trophy for coming in last place. Life doesn’t and shouldn’t reward you participating. Sports teaches that the best team wins and Should Be Rewarded with the Biggest Prize. Because just like life the top talent gets the highest salary and parents that is the lesson to be learned from playing the game. Not hanging your head and crying because they beat you but learning from the loss to be a better player.

Asking the program who preaches class, love, championship culture, etc. to actually show up when they were up by more that 20 is not too much.

I was not offended, interesting choice of words. You seem to be triggered by me asking them to be what they preach. I apologize for setting you off. Go back to your protests.

Your boss is not going to give you the raise you want if you don’t Earn IT! Go learn from the loss and actually Earn the Win! Now take your broom and finish sweeping the floor.

If MLB and NFL teams can control it, I'd say a smart coaching staff like OU would be able to control it as well.

So you want to tell a kid who gets severely limited innings not to play to their ability. MLB and NFL do exactly what OU did: play non-starters.

Maybe after the score gets to 20-0 it's time to do something creative. The starters got 3-4-5 at bats. That's really letting the "severely limited innings" players play a lot.

14 runs in the 5th inning, with most of the starters still batting.

This is a dumb conversation. Pre-season is all about getting reps before you start SEC conference play, zero f's given about feelings. UTEP is actually a pretty good team with a seasoned coach, I'm guessing he's using the ass kicking as a teaching moment.

Common sense and sportsmanship should take over at some point.

It's a bad look no matter how any OU fan tries to justify it. A game can get out of control quickly, but show some class when you realize you're up 20-0 and there is no hope for UTEP. 34-0 isn't going to help rankings.

Just out of curiosity, how would you have handled it? Runners step off the base, intentional strike outs? Just curious on this should have been handled.

It’s college not rec anymore. You tell your players when they get up to go opposite field and not just crushing the ball. Than if they get on than you have them step off. Ridiculous comments about oh they let the freshman play. Okay good. Once the freshman gets on let her step off for an out.
