Knew a kid who was a 7-year DI Coach, interim head coach at a crap DI program at 23, making solid progress in her career, and hated every second of it except actually instructing the players.

Coaching isn't what you think it is, and the admin crap is crushing. The mental health of your players falls on you, with little support, etc. I've seen quite a few really talented coaches drop out of the game.

I think there's a lot of talent in the coaching ranks that would enjoy making a great person/player rather than taking a gifted athlete and having to win with them.
