The players at Texas and other programs are not trying to be seen by college coaches. The college players also lift, run, condition and do number of other things in the off season.

HS happens the same time as the college season. Most players want the HS experience. I can't speak for every player. My DD's looked forward to it. They had a strong team and good coaching. It was more of an extension of travel ball.
