I think it's more than kids just getting burned out. EVERY sport is hyper-competitive today - EVERY sport has turned into a parking lot full of Denalis and G-Wagons.


Maybe less kids want to be a college athlete? I doub that.

So what's unique about softball that is burnin our roots?

It's an outdoor sport, so wash outs make it miserable. Not for volleyball, for example...

What else?

I'm out of this level - my kid playing in college. Glad she gotout when she did. And I think most of what's bad about softball is the parents, and then maybe some travel program sheisters.

This is a great sport and its super sad to see those participation rates - that is a generational problem that will be not easy to recover. wtf!

btw, I also blame rec leagues. Yeah, we pick on travel ball and HS coaches, but rec leagues suck.
