I do agree that at the older ages, some players could be getting burnt out but I believe there is a bigger issue of cost. It is becoming increasingly more challenging for families to afford the travel cost that has escalated over the years. The cost of travel softball has become too expensive for middle class families where parents have to make choices on continuing to pursue high end travel sports as young as 10U.
It's unfortunate, but the days of developing the players and playing locally has become a thing of the past. I understand the desire to play the best competition but that desire has a price tag that many families can't afford.
