Looking to hire coaches

Trevians Fastpitch is looking to hire some coaches. We are looking for a permanent 14U head coach and an assistant to take over our 14U team (B/C level) preferably beginning with the indoor season continuing through next summer. Current or former college player(s) preferred. Competitive pay. We are also looking for former high school or current or former college players to help with our 10U program next summer. Not necessarily asking the OP to address this, but I'm curious as to what "competitive pay" looks like for club softball coaches. There are obviously wide variations depending upon the club and team, but...

If you're the coach of a perennial PGF/AFCS contender, what are you putting in your pocket every year? And if you're the coach of a regional B team, what does it look like?

I don't need all the theories around program owners and tournament directors backing up their Brinks trucks... just curious about club coaches and whether it's really a viable path for someone out of college. Between lessons, camps and coaching, can you make a go of it?

Non parent coach. $4,000-$5,000 per year. Plus expenses should be paid for, hotels, airfare. Possibly meals and gas but that is not a guarantee.

A college kid for the summer was about $3,000 plus expenses.

If it is a parent coach the daughter might play for free.

No it is not much money, more like a side job.

It comes up to 85 cents an hour. Coaching is not the avenue to the penthouse.

It's less than that after you figure in all the off-field time it takes running a team.

Depending on the organization it can entail as much, if not, more time getting/keeping everything organized for the team.

It's more an avenue to the poor house.

It's something that is done for the love of the game and working with the kids.

It's a "good" side gig depending which program you are in. Make a little extra on top of a new hire rate in their chosen field.

The issue for most younger coaches is trying to balance the coach life with a social life and doing all the things.

It’s a terrible side gig. You would be much further ahead getting an online side hustle, verses the time, energy, lost pay per hour, and the hassle you’re going to deal with.

Nothing like burning all your PTO for a “side gig” that doesn’t pay anything.

Coaching, in general, is shit money for the time invested. That being said, some people just really like being around the sport and ignore the financial downside.
