Need help

My daughter is an infielder and a junior. Joined a new team this fall with 14 players. During the fall 7 girls left so we are down to 7 girls on the team and the team never picked up anyone yet. The team has been pulling up girls from the other teams from the same organization to fill in always. I still have payments left. Daughter likes the girls on the team(no drama) and wants to stay and she wants to see what happens in the summer. Seems like softball is so much different now. All about the money. Do I pull her or have her have the say so?

Did you say “no drama”? Half the players leave that is drama. Find another team.

You need to bail. What's going to happen when those other teams are playing and there is nobody to pull up. Tell your daughter sorry but we gotta go

If you are playing for who I think you are, leave now. You will be a lot less stressed this spring and summer.

The first thing you should do is stop. Stop making payments for a team that is no longer viable. It is completely understandable that your daughter likes the girls and they don’t have drama. However, you do not explain why 7 girls left and that is telling when that many leave at once. We experienced something very similar with our daughter. I saw the handwriting on the wall when I started asking difficult questions of not only the coach as well as the organization. The answers were not pretty so we left. It inspired my daughter to put in the work and she made a far better team. The reality is they can’t take the field with seven players and injuries will happen. If you signed paperwork look it over carefully for any references to no refund statements. If there are no such references ask for, in an email as well as certified mail, a full refund if you feel you already paid more than you should have. In our case we filed suit in small claims and were successful. Lesson learned research and keep asking questions not just to the coaches, organizations but the other parents as well.

Completely agree with one exception. If the seven remaining include strong pitching, you have a ghost of a chance of filling out your roster.

If there were 10, 11, or 12 girls left and your daughter liked her teammates, I’d say stick it out.

But 7 isn’t viable. I’d start looking for other options for her now. You don’t need to announce anything until you find something, but I’d get that going.
