Why do they put 17+ girls on varsity for high school and only play the same 9-10 players. Why don’t they put 3-4 girls down on JV to get some at bats when varsity isn’t playing conference games? Many of these players sitting on the bench are actually good and should be playing but because of politics, dad is coaching the freshman baseball team or whatever it is. Than the last month of softball just have them stay in varsity Incase someone gets hurt. Coaches Do better! Marking many girls hate softball by sitting. Just to let everyone know my daughter is one of the starters and always plays but I see what’s happening to the girls that just sit.

Do u think politics stop at the next level?
Teach your daughter to work hard and accept the role she is given.
Be a great teammate,hustle no matter what and when your number is called be prepared to get after it!

I think Dad Coach sums it all up. Don't let your kid get coached; just tell her that any athletic inadequacies she has stem from other people picking on her.

I coached high school for chunk of years. I never had more complaints than I did when I had girls that floated between varsity and JV. JV players complained that varsity girls bumped down and played in front of them. Varsity girls getting bumped down complained that they were on varsity and it was insulting for them to bump down and get reps, even though they weren’t getting consistent reps on varsity. And I only had 15 girls. I just didn’t want girls to go too long in between ABs. I started to just have select JV players practice with varsity and play with JV. It reduced complaints.

Everyone thinks their kid is great. One thing I learned early as a coach is that someone will always be unhappy. But there were things I could do to minimize the meetings I had to have with the AD and angry parents.

How about a D1 commit that only got there by who they know and have no business being on Varsity taking a spot from someone that truly deserves it given their talent?

No matter the college level, coach's have to recruit players that are just as good or better then what they have now. It's called job security

A couple JV caliber infielders playing there on the varsity team for sure

Nah. If you know, you know. She wouldn't even be committed to a JUCO if it wasn't for who she is related to.

No offense, but I have a kid who spent 7 years coaching DI, and I never once saw them recruit a kid because of connections. I have seen them take a Bandit kid if they were choosing, equal talent, between a Bandit kid and a kid from a "less competitive" program. Why, because the talent pool is deep, and they help recruit their teammates.

I went through six years of high school softball, two kids. The biggest complainers in the game are parents who've invested a ton of money in the game, and their kid gets beaten out by a rec/local team player who's simply more athletic.

Which chill or bandit players are using Jerry Quinn or Bill Conroy as they’re hitting or pitching coaches??
Those guys aren’t developing any talent!! they’re giving girls an opportunity to play in front of schools. I’ve never once heard a player say Bill Conroy‘s my pitching coach Jerry Quinn’s my hitting coach or either really developed me into the Player I am there’s probably a lot more talent on your travel ball team so that gives you the illusion that the coaching is so much better. I do understand that a lot of high school coaches are bad but it seems like that’s the go to.
