Coaches Attitudes at Easton Rawlings = Spectators SEE it all

Posted by The Realist on October 19, 2026, 9:21 am

I wish coaches understood that their actions reflect on how their athletes play. If a coach is in a bad mood, don't take it out on the players.
(Stop acting like a teenager)

If the game is going bad, don't make rude sarcastic comments. Get out of the dugout, talk to some coaches and build up your team.

If you are that bitter, stop coaching, or if you don't know how to build a positive culture, PLEASE stop coaching.

This sport is NOT easy, but when I see a rude and obnoxious coach, who is just being sarcastic and NOT helpful. I feel bad for these ladies.

I can holy hope that these coaches do not take the love of the game out of these girls. There is enough pressure in the game, athletes need more support in their corner.

I love your that your name is realist

Seek and you shall find

If you seek the best in people you shall find it

If you seek the worst in people you shall find it

If you seek perfection and those that agree with your opinions views and advice look in the mirror, or get a dog… or both

Name the team, name the coach - if you want to call it out, call it out

This would not be fair to the coaches or athletes I observed. I do not know the name of the coach (sorry) and the organization is irrelevant. This is about the behavior and actions of 16u and 18u coaches.

No game was stopped, the game went on. No police were called, just bad roll models.
I observed the action of players as I watched the game. The players had a very different behavior from when the game started vs the ending. The girls were not playing bad, but because it was not perfect coach got loud and rude to the athletes.

This is uncalled for. I can only wish or hope the athletes find the best team for them.

Well I’ll tell you!
1 is an old guy who should just quit!! It’s a black/red team and begins with the letter S.
The other team was a team where all the players left and went to this origination this year. 18u. This coach lost his shit because they lost 2-1.
No idea how these parents let thier kids play for some of these coaches. Yeah yeah yeah. Let’s hear the comments, oh your kid got cut, oh your kid sucks, oh you’re too soft! Blah blah blah

Every so often this comes up on here, for years. I would have thought by now it was known.

I also find it funny, the justification of the parents. Some happened with the other lady no longer coaching there. Ego.....

Is he nice? Yeah, he can be, but he'll be the first one to pick up that phone when you move on to sling mud on a kid's name.

Further, we once were at a tournament; he comes over, goes in dugout, does his thing, leaves, walks right by all the college coaches watching; that was the sign to leave.

I have known JT for more than 25 years. The first 5 years were as adversaries and we had some differences of opinion but I feel I know Joe as well as most since I helped coach in his wrestling program for 8+ years.
Joe, is old school, which I actually respect. He is direct and to the point, which I also respect. People outside of his team can be turned off by the volume of his voice but his message is normally dead on. The players that have had the opportunity to play for him know that he cares about the players, whether wrestlers or softball players.
If Joe has a weakness, it's he is very loyal in a world that has become increasing less loyal. I have seen Joe get burned in wrestling, being loyal to coaches that forced Joe to make decisions that were not in his best interest in an attempt to keep coaches and players happy and they left the following year.
I also seen him make decisions based on loyalty that at times, have hurt him.
I don't agree with what happened with a team that left to go to NLL. It definitely hurt Joe and he took it personally. If Joe is guilty of anything it is that he vested in all of his players and when someone leaves, he takes it personally.

I have learned over 30 years of coaching multiple sports, that I will do my best for the players in my program and will help others when I can but if my best isn't good enough, then I can't take it personally.

As far as Jill, she is a different animal from Joe but no one can argue that she didn't love her teams and try her best to get them taken care of.

Also, I should say that Joe was one of 5 coaches that had the most influence on me when I started back in 1999.
Joe Tholl
Ed Serdar

My daughter played for Ed Serdar and Joe Tholl and enjoyed playing for them. The thing she admired the most about Tholl was he was honest and straightforward with all the players. He didn't sugar coat mistakes. Once he mistake was over it was not brought up again.

The biggest mistake people make is they hear the volume with Tholl. They do not take the time to listen closely to the message.

By the time my daughter started playing in college there was nothing that happened on the field, in the dugout and during team interactions that could shake her. She'd been thru it all prior to college after playing for Serdar and Tholl.

Most kids can understand, adapt and learn. The criticisms come from the parents outside the team.

Daughter played for the man and loved it. It may not be everyone’s cup of tea but if you have thick skin and want to be coached hard he’s your guy. One of the nicest guys around and cares about the girls. Sit down and talk with him and you’ll see!

I can assure you the coach from the team that lost 2-1 is an amazing stand up guy.

Agree! My daughter played for him and is he loud, 100%, and he is hard on the girls at times. But most of the times he is a softie. I would never have tolerated a coach being degrading to my daughter. I had no problem with him being tough, there is a difference.

I must not know what a stand up guy is than these days. Yelling at these girls after a great game telling them to find another sport or if you’re committed, just de commit now? I couldn’t believe what I was hearing!! Bad day or whatever you want to call it, not right!
Let me guess, I should get some thick skin? Oh but he’s a stand up guy!

I have a really hard time believing the HC from the Lightning 18u degraded his players. My daughter played for him, he’s tough and expects a lot from his players but he never once was degrading ever. I’m also not a parent that thinks that’s ok and if it had happened while we were on the team we would have left.
