Decommits

Posted by Pissed on October 22, 2026, 3:08 pm

What in the hell are these coches doing decommiting kids this late in the process? I'm seeing so many 27s being let go. This is insane and the NCAA SUCKS

This 5 for 5 is so dumb. Just play your 4 years and be done! Why not just have unlimited years to play.smh

My kid will be playing as a grad student next year taking one of the coveted roster spots on her team away from an incoming freshman.

From a coaches point of view, should he take a record setting player who is older, stronger, experienced, and known leader or take an unknown incoming freshman? Tough choice.

Maybe the coaches pray on the decisions like the players and these are the decisions they are lead to

Such a bummer of a situation. But when the coaches now have the option of a few seniors coming back, they are gonna take take over unproven high school kids. Also note that a lot of this kids being decommitted are ones that had spots but little or no money as part of their deals.

Seems weird that they can replace a low-cost recruit with a 5th-year at a higher price tag, but I'm past understanding the economics.

If they're letting you go, they're not committed to giving the recruit playing time, so beyond the soul-crushing disappointment and academic ramifications, they're probably doing you a favor.

How do you know what the players being given scholarship wise? If I were to bet, I'm on the you're just running your mouth side.

Yep. Horrible but these kids shouldn’t be committing right after their sophomore year. Way too early!!

Many of the decommits of being caused by seniors coming back for the 5th year when the coach planned on the older girls graduating. Scholarships are capped. Heartbreaking for the 27’s for sure
