LP4U Strike out Cancer

Posted by The Realist on October 26, 2026, 2:55 pm

The event went over well, and is for a great cause.

Bradley 315 is super nice just too large of a facility and the few college coaches that were there could not really watch multiple games.

Most games were good to watch, some exciting. The level of play was average, a few above average games.

Umpires were great! That is NOT being sarcastic.

Outfield fences need to be placed on all fields. It was very noticeable again this weekend, too make IPH on line drives to the gap.

I can deal with no fences and I also have no problem with time limits. I just love the fact that those squishy softballs were no where in sight. I applaud the man in charge.

Love the idea of the new mega complexes. They have changed the way tourneys are run in mostly a positive way.

BUT - for $1200 team fee to enter ANY tourney, every field needs to have fences at the correct distances. Otherwise, lower the fees until you can accommodate.

A similar situation happened earlier this fall at Bradley 315 - Triple Crown had another $1K+ tourney with no fences on any field. Some HR fences were 250 or 300 ft. AND - they removed the distance signs from the permanent fences to avoid conflict.

Not acceptable.

Perhaps you don’t follow me on X. When I heard about Triple Crown on this site I called the park and asked for the 5 intended fields to be purchased. Remember most all parks are built for baseball. In a matter of days they spent almost $100K on the fencing I requested. I had expected it before my 2 October dates but as with everything the last 6-7 years delays happen. You will see in my post below that the fencing arrived Friday afternoon and all my events there in future will have the fences.
I feel worse for all the balls hit 220’ that were caught than the few that are hit so hard that they roll past outfielders.
Good thing both teams were playing with same fences 😎

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Huge shout out to Bradley 315 Sports Center! When I heard there were not enough temp fences for the girls softball events I spoke with the park management and within days they ordered almost $100K in additional fencing. It arrived this past weekend all 16 fields in 2027! TY

Can’t use that bs excuse oh both teams have the advantage or disadvantage. Put the fences up! 16u and 18u paying all this money to get into these expensive tournaments and they are playing in fields like they are 10u. A roller in the gap is a homerun or a 235 foot hit is caught. Do better.

It’s hilarious that fences are the concern when time limits are way more unacceptable
Ask the college coaches
3 different coaches asked why there’s timed showcase games
$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

No college coached asked that and this keeps a showcase on schedule. When players are asking coaches to come they need to have a schedule that stays on time. If you can’t decide a winner in 90m then your team is playing the game wrong.

100% agree!!! Enough with the time limits! There are soo many bad teams that don't belong at these things, it cant always be about money, it is what is killing everything. If you need to have time limits you have too many teams.

That is one thing we used to see a lot more is actual QUALIFICATION of teams into an event. If you had not built up a resume, you could not get into the top events. Over time that morphed into you had to have the right coach to get into events. Now, the gates are just open and they take anyone. Very few events these days actually care how good you are or your team name as long as your check clears.

All about the money! It will never change. Also with many organizations having 3-4 teams at each level and 1-2 are great and the other 2 are horrible. I know it’s all about pitching but it will impossible to know what teams are good or bad to let them in a tournament 6-8 months in advance.
