How DID the gold standard work before 1972? How can currency be stabilized in 2023? I'd have to look at that again to grasp it. I'd rather see Bretton Woods established again which freezes currency exchange rates within certain small ranges. Currently there is no fixed exchange rate system. This leaves the door open to international currency speculators to destroy sovereign nations legally. Fix that loophole with Bretton Woods and half the problem of currency is solved. As well, return to a system of bank lending that includes a reserve ratio. Somewhere along the way, reserve ratios went to zero. Everything I learned in economics in tenth grade has been ruined... possibly because we've got the equivalent of sixth grade people running the show.
