Mainly to see what the fuss is all about. It's supposed to be the implied prequel to the original Star Trek series.

A couple observations:

1. Captain Pike's Enterprise just looks more technologically advanced and "futuristic" than Captain Kirk's, what with all the digital touch screens and such, even though the series is supposed to be set in the implicit past.

2. Why are there so many damn women on Pike's Enterprise? It made me think of a live-action version of Zapp Brannigan's starship Nimbus on Futurama. I half expected Capt. Pike to say, "Spock, inform the crew: I made it with a woman."
